Join us in Prague, Czech Republic, for a unique gathering of safety professionals, researchers, and industry leaders at the 12th European STAMP Workshop and Conference (ESWC).
This year’s theme, “STAMP in Action: From Insight to Impact”, highlights the real-world application of STAMP and emphasizes the transition from theory to safety improvements in complex systems.
In 2026, we place a special focus on inviting practitioners who are already using STAMP in operational environments, actively testing it for future implementation, or those who hold critical or alternative views on the approach. At ESWC 2026, we aim to explore and better understand how STAMP-based ideas should be communicated beyond expert circles, and how they can be transferred, adapted, and scaled to address real-world challenges in Europe and beyond.
In addition to technical sessions and research presentations, the conference will host interactive workshops focused on knowledge transfer, practical implementation, and even the commercialization of systems-theoretic approaches.
Whether you are a seasoned professional, a newcomer to systems safety, or someone exploring the potential of STAMP for your organization, ESWC 2026 provides a vibrant space for learning, dialogue, and cross-sector collaboration.
As traditional safety approaches face increasing limitations amid growing technological and organizational complexity, ESWC 2026 offers a timely platform to advance innovation and share hands-on strategies for ensuring safety in today’s cyber-sociotechnical systems.
From aerospace and healthcare to automotive, railways, nuclear energy, and urban systems, STAMP and its suite of tools , including STPA, CAST, and STPA-Sec, continue to empower organizations across sectors with powerful, proactive safety insights.
Topics
This year’s conference presents a program combining practical experience and theoretical advancements, covering a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:
- Application and advancements of STAMP, STPA, CAST, and other STAMP-based methods across various domains such as Artificial Intelligence, Space Technologies, Healthcare Technologies, Cultural and Creative Industries, Urban Innovation, Aviation, Defense, Automotive, Railways, Chemicals, Oil and Gas, and Workplace Safety.
- Strategies for introducing STAMP, STPA, and CAST within large-scale and complex organizations.
- Innovative design paradigms guided by safety and security principles, leveraging STPA and STPA-Sec.
- Decision-making frameworks informed by STPA analysis results.
- In-depth accident and loss investigations, including lessons learned and methodological reflections.
- Discussions on certification processes and the influence of regulatory frameworks on systems-theoretic approaches.
- Comparative evaluations of STAMP-based methods with traditional safety techniques.
- Advanced risk management approaches, including the identification of leading indicators for system safety.
- Security applications and extensions into adjacent areas, including occupational safety.
- Development, implementation, and critical assessment of Safety Management Systems (SMS).
- Emerging tools, processes, and support mechanisms for applying STPA and CAST in both analysis and design contexts.
- Management-level insights, including adoption experiences, organizational challenges, and lessons from practice.
- Explorations of emergent system properties beyond safety and security, relevant for complex, adaptive systems.
We invite you to join this collective effort to reshape the landscape of system safety and to push the boundaries of what is possible in protecting the integrity of complex systems worldwide.
Extended Abstracts and Papers
We invite you to contribute your knowledge, ideas, and experience to the 12th European STAMP Workshop and Conference (ESWC) by submitting either a scientific paper or an extended abstract.
This year, ESWC 2026 will be held in conjunction with NTCA 2026, where a dedicated session for STAMP-based research will provide researchers with the opportunity to submit scientific manuscripts. Accepted papers will be included in the NTCA proceedings and indexed in Scopus. For paper preparation and details about review process see instructions For Authors and Submission details.
While scientific papers can address any relevant domain (not limited to aviation), they must clearly describe how the research outcomes can be applied in the aviation sector. This ensures the practical relevance of cross-domain research for the broader safety community.
For practitioners who may not be interested in publishing a full paper but would still like to share their insights, experiences, or project results, we also welcome extended abstracts. These can be based on prior research, implementation experience, conceptual work, or practical applications, and will be evaluated for presentation during the workshop and conference.
We are especially interested in fresh insights, real-world applications, and novel research that advance the field of system safety and STAMP-based methods.
